The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, as confirmed by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a event leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America ahead of the UN meeting.

Official representatives have portrayed William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as assuming an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were greeted guests including environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This involvement included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco during the current year.

The COP30 summit will dovetail with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the COP summit on November 6th.

In recent days the William characterized the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The King has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats challenging our world over planetary heating, climate change and species extinction," the sovereign addressed attendees.
