Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10

Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Everything good I trust on this excellent early start to week 10 coming straight outta Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the nation’s capital.

Pregame Key Moments

When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?

In a similar vein the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

First Quarter Gameplay

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Score Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and fumbles the football.

An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Oops.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
