Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
